LA FUERZA DEL CAMBIO

Cuando estudiaba bachillerato escribí -cosas que se hacen en esos momentos- un poema que acababa diciendo que "sólo el que alcanza cada día el horizonte es feliz". Mi intención con esa frase era destacar la necesidad de seguir avanzando, de buscar tus ideales y tus metas cada día. Al mismo tiempo, me mostraba escéptico respecto de la posibilidad de ser feliz ya que el horizonte avanza siempre contigo. Quizás hoy cambiaría la frase para reflejar que es la búsqueda y el esfuerzo de la felicidad lo que la propicia. La felicidad no es el resultado de la búsqueda sino la consecuencia del esfuerzo diario en alcanzarla.

When I was in Highschool I wrote a poem -one of those you write at that age- which ended up like "only he who reaches the horizon everyday is really happy". I intended to express the need for constant search of your ideals and goals, the need to keep going forward. At the same time, I was showing skepticism towards the idea of being able to achieve happiness as the horizon always advances at the same pace you do. I might change the sentence today to reflect that it is the effort you put on the search for happiness which really gives it to you. Happiness is not at the end of the search, it is a consequence of the daily struggle to reach it.
